I read an interesting article over at Fresh View this morning entitled 'Are people still prepared to pay for software?'. It was a really appropriate post because this is something we had to ask ourselves when creating Acopic CMS. David Greiner who authored the article makes some great points and I wholly agree with what he says.
While open-source software is undoubtedly here to stay, there will always be a market for professional licensed (or paid for) software and services. David points out that 'Many businesses would actually prefer to pay for software than get it for free. If they know there's a profitable, stable company behind the product then it's going to get improved, they'll get technical support, the product won't just drop off the radar at any moment.'
Anyway, the article is definately worth a read.
We like Sushi....

Icon Sushi that is! When Acopic needed a snazzy favicon (the logo in your browser address bar), Icon Sushi came to the rescue. It's a great free tool for converting bitmaps to transparent .ico files. Very useful.
